Title: Instrument importance 2 u
Description: Most important instrument to you.
Maggot Chick - January 25, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
Every instrument is very important to the face of music in some way( I think )...but I just decided to make a poll of the main instruments used in a Rock band, Metal band...Etc. Write why you think the instrument you choose is important to you.
I think that the Guitar is the most important instrument in a band because I THINK that is sets out the main tune of a song and then bass, drums, and vocals jump in. I have always thought that vocals are an instrument... the only thing is that you can't just go out and buy it like you can a guitar ...I have great respect for GOOD vocalists. Some vocalists amaze me with there voices...the thought that a human can make that sound with there body is just amazing to me... and that is why I listed vocals on this poll.
This is my first poll or topic stater of any kind ...So, sorry if it is a bit messy.
:)

It depends on the band's style.
Some bands the guitar is more prominent, some of them it is equal with bass.
If the guitarist plays simple or boring parts, then having a good bassist is much more important.
It's a hard question to answer, because it depends on so many things.
But for me, I like to hear a really good bassist.

That is a really good point. Do you have a fav bassist?

Ryan Martinie, Charles Mingus, and Justin Haltmar are my favorites.

God is right, its really hard to pick just one. I'm going to go with drums though.
I can't vote, because I hit teh wrong button. Argh.

Why is that?
Being a drummer...I am interested in hearing why you think so much of the drums. :)
Thats cool that you think that though.

In some bands (like Opeth) the drums are integral to the sound.
If their drummer changed styles it would pretty much kill the band

Agreed. But I would have to go with vocals. The vocals in a band can either make or break them. I've heard some great instrumental in bands but the vocal work just ruins everything good they had going for them.

Thats a good point also...I cant tell you how many times I have sat down and heard a band and think WOW this is kick ass!
...And then the singer opens his or her mouth and then its like.... :wtf:

Lolz that sounds like most of teh bands at teh COB show.

Definitely the vocals...if they're shitty, I can't get past that to give the rest of the song a chance. After that it's probably drums, guitar and bass-depending on the type of music.
